Looking for ways to help out your local community? Catamounts Care! Join us Saturday, March 23rd for a bottle collection drive to assist Parallel Justice. We need enthusiastic students and faculty who are interested in going door-to-door on UVM’s neighboring streets to collect people’s recyclable bottles. Volunteers will travel in groups of 4-5 and be assisted by a Parallel Justice staff member.
Who are Parallel Justice? Even though Burlington is one of the safer cities of its size, crime still happens here, and when it does, Parallel Justice is there to help. When a crime is reported to the police, this program follows up to ensure every victim is safe and determine what help they need. Things P.J. can do include helping pay for vital repairs like fixing a smashed car window or getting a new lockset for a front door if someone’s keys were stolen. This is where Catamounts Care comes in. All of the money to pay for these services comes from donations raised through events like this bottle drive, and every penny of every dollar raised goes directly to helping a friend or neighbor regain their safety and peace of mind. Lend a hand as we collect nickels for neighbors and spread the word that Parallel Justice is here to help.
