Each year, the Green Mountain Audubon Center hosts three Sugar on Snow parties in the month of March to celebrate our sustainable, bird-friendly maple sugaring program and offer free education programs to the public. These events raise funds to support our sustainable sugaring operation, as well as our year-round environmental education programs for people of all ages.
On March 17, 23 , & 24 we will host hundreds of guests on our property who can enjoy light refreshments, hot drinks and wonderful syrup boiled right on site as “sugar on snow”. Our Naturalists lead tours of the sugar bush and sugar house to explain the process of turning sap into syrup, while our Forest Bird Biologists discuss the management practices we have put in place to foster breeding bird populations in our sugar bush.
In order for these parties to be successful, we need help from people like YOU. Each day we need many volunteers to lend a hand serving refreshments, keep a fire going and help our visitors park. Please consider signing up for a volunteer slot (or two!) today and be added to the list of Vermonters that come together to keep our programs strong throughout the year.
