In your final paper you will focus on one of the women studied in the last third of the sememster (The Wife of Bath, Hildegard of Bingen, Elizabeth of Schönau, Margery Kempe, Birgitta of Sweden, Catherine of Siena, Julian of Norwich) and discuss who this woman positions herself and/or renogotiates the female role in relationship to the stereotypes of Eve and Mary. As you develop your ideas, please keep in mind that ll these women have been constructed by an author and that unlike the personas found in the autobiographical and meditative writings, the Wife of Bath has been constructed by Chaucer as a character outside of himself. Your discussion should be substantial, 2500-3000 words, and in it you should synthesize the ideas this course has engendered.
