Course
Requirements
Students
are expected to attend all classes, to read the assigned texts
thoroughly and critically, and to participate in class
discussions. While attendance does not constitute
a specific percentage of the final grade, your overall pattern of
attendance
will be taken into consideration when your final grade is
determined.
Written requirements include a quiz on Buddhist terms, an in-class
midterm examination, and a final take-home examination. In
addition, you are required to keep a journal throughout the semester
which will include your reflections on the readings and in-class
assignments. Click
here for more specific information about the
journal.
All written requirements, including the journal, must be
submitted in order to pass the course.
It is the responsibility of all students enrolled in this course to be
aware of and in compliance with the university's regulations regarding
academic honesty; click
here for a statement of UVM's policy. If you have
any questions about these regulations, you should speak to the
instructor for further clarification. Ignorance will not be
considered a legitimate excuse for infringement of these
regulations. Violations of the standards of academic honesty will be
reported.
The various course assignments count toward your final grade as
follows:
- class
participation and journal—25%
- quiz
on Buddhist terms—15%
- in-class
mid-term exam—30%
- final
take-home exam—30%
