Helpful Feedback

Feedback is an important part of Education.  Some students overlook feedback from teachers only searching for the grade and don't care for the comments that they were given.  Most realize the importance and improvement that they can achieve from looking and analyzing feedback given to them by others.

While doing our Autobios I found that using the Word markup tool was a quick easy way to give feedback to others on their projects.  The tool worked really well and was convienent.  Over on left you can see someone's project and the red boxes are the feedback I gave to make their project better.  The first suggestion I gave them was to possibly change the colors on the far left column because the blue and black combination made it hard to read.  I felt it was important to not only find things I'd change, but things I thought were well done.  This person had nice usage of pictures and the content was informative and relevant.

I also found that when giving feedback I could see what others were doing and use that to improve my own autobio and get ideas.  In order to give feedback to others you must yourself know what to look for in a project.  This forces us to consider things about our own work that without giving others feedback we have let slide by.

Pier feedback is important because their can be a language barrier or power difference between teacher adn student.  I always feel pressured to make the changes a teacher suggests because they are the one grading it and if that is the case then I'll do what they want.  With a pier you can look at the suggestions, but you don't feel that you have to use them.  Also, the piers are the ones also doing the project not the teacher, so they are going through the same problems and have the same questions that you do.
