First week  (Aug. 29 - Sept. 2)
Monday - Introduction to course.
Wednesday - Watch the video «Что читает народ» "What Russians Read, " episodes #1, #2 until you comprehend it.  We shall go over the ключевые слова in class.  Prepare to define them in both English and Russian.  Additionally, we shall discuss in Russian the course goals.  please read them from the handout.
Friday - Watch the video "What Russians Read, " episodes #3, #4.  We shall define the "key word" vocabulary in English and in Russian.

Second week  (Sept. 5 - 9)
Monday - no class - Labor Day Holiday
Wednesday -  We shall work on the key word vocabulary and recite the main points in the video.  Finish watching the video "What Russians Read. "   We shall go over it in class.
Friday - Preprare to do an in-class, graded "oral содержание (content)" of the important data in the video.  Accomplish this by dividing your remarks into 5 episodes, naming each (according to your own design) and then prudcing a quick synopsis of its content.  The next video we shall watch is "Professions."

Third week  (Sept. 12 - 16)
Monday - We shall go over the Key Words for «Профессии», Episodes #1, #2 and discuss those episodes.  Please submit a graded, written synopsis for the first video.   Computer typed MS are required.  Go to STLLABUS on this web site for links to download cyrillic and/or a phonetic keyboard.
Wednesday - We shall go over the Key Words for Episode #3 and discuss the episode.
Friday - We shall go over the Key Words for Episode #4 and discuss the episode.

Fourth week    (Sept. 19 - 23)
Monday - We shall go over the Key Words for the final episode and discuss that item.
Wednesday -Please submit a synopsis for the «Профессии» video.  It will be graded.   Computer typed MS are appreicated.  Go to STLLABUS on this web site for LINKS.  Please Watch the second video on your first tape - «Переименование».  We will examine the key words for the first episode and commence work on that episode.
Friday - We shall continue watching the second video on your first tape -«Переименование»; "Renaming."  We will examine the key words for the second episode and commence work on that episode.

Fifth week  (Sept. 26-30)
Monday -We shall finish watching the second video on your first tape - "Renaming."
Wednesday - Pick that part of "Renaming"  which most interests you and retell it in Russian.  Be ready to discuss it with the class.
Friday -  Please submit a synopsis for the "Renaming" video.  It will be graded.   We shall go over the "geographical regiuons and weather speak" terminology.  We shall watch and deal with weather forcasts.

Sixth week  (Oct. 3 - 7)
Monday -We shall watch and anlyze several weather forcasts.
Wednesday - We shall watch and anlyze several weather forcasts and begin working on newscasts.  News tapes handed out in class.
Friday -  We shall go over the key words to the first episode of «Екология».  We shall watch Episode #1.

Seventh week  (Oct. 10 - 14)
Monday - Individual reports on a single news item from a news tape - graded. 
Wednesday -  We shall watch Episode #2 of «Екология».
Friday -  Fall Recess Day - No Class!

Eighth week  (Oct. 17 - 21)
Monday -Finish ecology tape. (News tapes handed out for Wednesday's assignment, owing to class cutting last Wednesday)
Wednesday - Individual reports on a single news item from a news tape - graded.
Friday - Please submit a synopsis for the «Экология» video.  It will be graded.  News tapes handed out for Monday's assignment


Ninth week (Oct, 24 - 28)
Monday -  Individual reports on a single news item from a news tape - graded.
Wednesday - We shall go over the key words to the first episode of «Образование».  We shall watch Episode #1.
Friday - Class discussion of education.  What is your educational background?  Be prepared to describe it.

Tenth week  (Oct. 31 - Nov. 4)
Monday - Individual reports on a single news item from a news tape - graded.
Wednesday - We shall go over the key words and watch Episode #2 of «Образование».
Friday - We shall go over the key words and watch Episode #3 of «Образование».

Eleventh week  (Nov. 7 - 11)
Monday - Individual reports on a single news item from a news tape - graded.
Wednesday - We shall go over the key words and watch Episode #4 of «Образование».
Friday - We shall go watch the latest news and use the video for vocabulary building. 
 Please submit a synopsis for the «Образование» video.  It will be graded.

Twelfth week  (Nov. 14 - 18)
Monday - Individual reports on a single news item from a news tape - graded.
Wednesday - Go over the key words and view Episode #1 - «Чем заниматься в жизни», "Lifestyles."
Friday - Go over the key words and view Episode #2 - «Чем заниматься в жизни»


Thirteenth week  (Nov. 21 - 25)
Monday -Individual reports on a single news item from a news tape - graded.
Wednesday  - Friday  Thanksgiving Recess - No Class!


Fourteenth week (Nov. 31 - Dec. 2)
