9/10 Introduction to Standards into Action
What Kind of a Learner are You?       Learning Styles Survey. Compile class results. Students access their accounts, examine resources on SIA at State Level. Introduce Instructional Planner, Discussion Tools and College site applications.
9/15 Using Microsoft Tools
Over view of Menu use and focus on creating a desktop publishing document newsletter. Use of drawing tools and text fields, spellchecker, grammerchecker,  adding clip art and inserting digital graphics will be taught. Use of markup feature will be used to provide feedback to others. Using columns and sections to publish a newsletter. Students use Word, insert digitized pictures and clip art to produce a newsletter about themselves. See

You will work in a group to ride the Oregon Trail during the 1850's and complete a 2-3 page Group Newspaper to tell about your experiences from each of your perspectives. Some other ideas and resources about historical NewsPapers can be found at:
11/10 Participating in  a Webquest Continue working in your groups to complete your Webquest and begin your NewsLetter. See your Webquest assignment for additional information about your NewsLetter.  Some resources you might want to look at include:

Work in class to share your articles and graphics. Discuss what story you will tell and what you have learned about the Donner Party Tragedy.
11/17 How to teach something with multimedia
Look at SIA units/activities for an example of how to explain a skill better using video and PowerPoint. Students will learn how to use video to demonstrate  some best practices in using them for their learning and teaching. Examples of digital video to help students learn.
