Jan 16 Welcome Back! Class:Feedback on Objectives. Why we are doing journals. Group synergy exercise.  Group Distributed Functions.  Lab: Types of Computers and telecommunication media. History of Internet Video. Share "End of the Semester Writing Assignments" on web. Group editing assignment explained, and work on group editing assignment.  Assignment Due: End of the Fall 2001 Semester Writing Assignment: Individual five to seven page paper posted on the WebCT Web site. Minimum of three journal entries.
Jan 23 Class: (Meet in the Lounge downstairs) Group Editing Presentation guidelines.  Lab: History of Internet video. Resume construction in Word (AGRI 85 Lab 3), PowerPoint presentation construction Assignment Due: Group Editing paper.  Re-drafts of Spreadsheet Assignment from last semester. Minimum of three journal entries.
Jan 30 Class: Group Editing presentations. Meet in Room 222 Terrill Hall! Lab:  Moore's LawUnits of Memory & Storage Why 8-bits to a Byte/ASCII. History of Internet video. Work on PowerPoint Presentations, see Guidelines, Assignment Due: Group Editing Presentation.  Minimum of three journal entries.
Feb 6 Class: First two hours: PowerPoint Presentations (8-10 min.) Peer-review of fellow student papers revisited.  Meet in 206 Morrill Conference Room. Lab: one hour Spreadsheets, Graphs, X-Y Scatter plots. Assignment Due: AGRI 85 Lab 3.   Resume.   PowerPoint Presentation.  Minimum of three journal entries.
Feb 13 Class: First two hours: PowerPoint Presentations (8-10 min.)  Lab: one hour, copying tables and X-Y graphs into Word (Lab 5 AGRI 85).  Writing exercise: Good & Bad of IT.  History of the Internet Video. Assignment Due: PowerPoint Presentation.  Minimum of three journal entries. Third Lawry paper due (with edited draft) and posted to the web.
Feb 20 Class: EXAM ONE!  CALS History and current organization. Lab: What percent of the world has IT @ home? Internet Packet Structure. High Stakes in Cyberspace Video. Reading Assignment: How Hackers Break In & How They Are Caught (Username: your last name in lower case, Password: last 7 digits of barcode) Assignment Due: Minimum of three journal entries. AGRI 85 Lab 5 Assignment.
Feb 27 Class: Hand back Exam.  Mass Media Exercise.  Lab: Advanced Web: Error Checking algorithms,  Anti-Virus Software & Using Netscape Composer.

March 6 Class:   Critical Thinking exercise in-class example. Reading Assignment: Packet of Key Skills To Get A Job. Lab:  Advanced Web. History of the Internet Video. Assignment Due: Tuesdays with MorriePaper due: Printed final draft, printed edited draft (signed by fellow JMH student), and URL to web version. Minimum of three journal entries.
March 13 Class:  Guest Speaker:  David Osgood.  Graphing exercise. Lab:    TCP/IP packet structure, advanced web review, work on Critical Thinking Web Page assignment. History of the Internet Video Assignment Due:Minimum of three journal entries. 
March 20 Spring Break, No Class.
March 27 Class:    Student presentations on Critical Analysis of an Article Web Page. Intro to Final Project Lab: Work on Final ProjectHistory of the Internet Video Assignment Due: Critical Thinking exercise presentations.  Advanced Web Page Posted to class (share URL on WebCT discussion).  View the "Land for Learning: Justin Morrill and America's Land Grant Colleges and Universities" Video on reserve at the media center in Bailey-Howe Library.  One Journal Entry must be on the video.  Reflective Journal entry about joining UVM club or organization. Minimum of three journal entries.
April 3 Class: EXAM TWO! Finish Critical Analysis of an Article Web Page.  Student informal presentations on where you are with your Final Project Lab: Work on Final ProjectHistory of the Internet Video Assignment Due: Tell the class what you are thinking about using as your Project Theme, data sources, and what data you have found so far. Minimum of three journal entries.
April 10 Class: Student presentations on where they are with their Final Project. Guest Speaker: Career Services representative.  Lab: What to look for in IT equipment: keyboards, mice, monitors, Systems. Work on Final ProjectHistory of the Internet Video Assignment Due:  Present your first two graphs to the class.  Minimum of three journal entries.  Advisor check-in sheet signed due.
April 17 Class: Final Project Presentations. Assignment Due: Be ready to Present your Final Project. Minimum of three journal entries.
April 24 Class: Final Project Presentations. Assignment Due: Be ready to Present your Final Project. Minimum of three journal entries.
May 1 Ropes Course & Dinner.
Final Exam:  Wednesday 8 May  3:30pm-5:30pm
