Signature Awards

The James M. Jeffords Center focuses on four Signature Themes: education, health care, environment, and effective government. Our Signature Awards Program provided financial support in various amounts (up to $50,000) to support policy research and education programs that will forward the Center's mission. Students, faculty, and external entities for policy, education, and research were eligible to apply.

 

2011-2012 Awards

  • Vermont Legislative Research Service (VLRS)
    The Vermont Legislative Research Service (VLRS) was granted a Jeffords Signature Award to continue its mission to offer non-partisan policy research support for the VT State Legislature, while concurrently promoting students' research skills.
  • Complex Governance Systems Research and Modeling Initiative
    This Signature Award will fund a comprehensive research and modeling program designed to establish UVM as a center of activity around the integration of complex computer simulation modeling with policy and governance systems.
  • Institute For Environmental Diplomacy and Security
    This Signature Award will establish an institute dedicated to both the study and practice of techniques that can assist in resolving environmental conflicts, and in using ecological processes as a peace-building tool.
  • Response to Instruction
    This project is aimed at enhancing student outcomes of middle and high school students through the development of a Response-to-Instruction model (RtI).
