~ Cleome, Basil and Clover ~

Here is a paragraph describing Cleome's rescue, taken from the Massachusetts Rabbit Rescue organization:

Two months ago (~late October 1998?) Rabbit Rescue took in 3 mothers and their babies who were part of a group of 5 bunnies (2 male, 3 females) who were rescued from the Whitman animal control shelter. The 5 bunnies were kept in one cage and were slated to be euthanized. The woman who initially took them in to find them homes barely had them one week before one of the females gave birth. Rabbit Rescue took the mothers and babies into foster care, and the woman who had initially rescued the bunnies found a good indoor home for the 2 males. The babies are now old enough to be adopted and are featured as the "Buns of the Month" for November 1998.

They created an adoption page for Cleome and her 6 babies with photos and a description of the group.

Here are links to the full sized pictures of her and the babies:

Here is Holly, one of the other moms that Cleome was rescued with, pictured with her babies. You can see how small they were when they were born! It's hard to believe. Star is another bunny who was found with Cleome and Holly. Star's babies probably had the same dad as Cleome's babies. The dad was a brown rex who looked a lot like Clover.

We adopted Cleome and two of her babies - a brown female named Clover and a tan male named Basil. They are all very sweet. We've had then since December 4th. After a week of introduction, all four of the bunnies are bonded! We have been keeping a journal of our experiences with all four bunnies since their arrival.

We found out in the spring of 1999 that Cleome's 4 remaining babies were adopted in pairs. To the right is a photo of the four of them when they grew older. The girls are Dahlia and Daisy, and the boys are Cosmos and Woodruff. (I think the brown one in the back is a girl, the brown one in the front is a boy, and the other two are.. one of each). What cuties!
