Assessment & Curriculum Management
I support the assessment & curriculum management needs of fifteen professional programs including the use of Taskstream, our online assessment management tool. I've worked with almost 500 students and faculty in the past two years with Taskstream and other assessment needs. Whew!
Web-site Development
I really enjoy creating and managing websites that support communities and innovative learning. I have helped develop VTcite.org as a place for Vermont educational technology leaders to build a community. I usually create my sites the old fashioned way, from the code up, but I also use Dreamweaver at times.
Digital Video
Making videos with iMovie and other tools is something I really enjoy. Currently I'm working on incorporating more Flash video into my teaching and websites, especially using it as a method for documenting learning. Check out my Flash videos on this site. Flash has many advantages over other formats including easier playback for most users.
Web-based Learning
I currently teach an online course in assessment & technology and have taught a number of other online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. Assessment & Technology investigates how educators can use technology to improve their assessment practice and is offered in WebCT, though I am migrating it to Blackboard. In one way or the other I've been working with online learning since 1998. I guess you could say I love it!
Innovations & Organizations
The interaction between an organization and a recently adopted innovation fascinates me. Really. I'm currently studying the impact of our adoption of Taskstream on our students' technology preparation but also how our organization has changed because of Taskstream. There's more to come on this...
Online Surveys
Collecting data online is easy and I like to create tools that make it even easier. I created VESTto help collect data about technology in Vermont schools. I have also developed tools to collect exit and alumni data from our students and grads. I am also the college support person for Perseus, the university's online survey tool. Oh, I'll also help you use Google Apps to conduct an online survey, it's great!
International Experience
Dzien Dobry! I used to be a teacher and principal at the American Elementary School in Gydnia, Poland. I really enjoyed working and living overseas and the dynamic, international environment has had an important impact on my thinking ever since.
Godzilla
Yea, I like Godzilla! Is there anything wrong with that? We all have our quirks and this is one of mine. I also enjoy the original Star Trek series.
