Computer Advance Program
To help colleges, schools, and administrative departments provide
faculty and staff with appropriate computing hardware and software, the
FY 2004 Computer Advance Program (CAP) will provide $750 towards the
purchase of up to 100 UVM-configured Windows and Macintosh systems and
standard UVM software. Aimed at replacing the most deficient systems for
individual faculty and staff, the program is intended to help
departments acquire appropriate technology despite budget stresses, to
increase standardization, and to encourage life-cycle replacement
budgeting.
Software support is ending for some Windows and Macintosh versions, and
CAP subsidies provide a good opportunity to upgrade to newer software so
that support is not interrupted. The following software will go
off
support before the next round of CAP subsidies:

describe eligibility requirements, how to apply, and
this year's CAP hardware and software selections. Deadline dates
for
applications and purchases are:
* Applications must be received by Monday, November
30, 2003.
* Decisions will be announced before the end of the
calendar year.
* Computers must be purchased by January 31, 2004.
