CALS Information Technology Office
Goodbye Pandora, Hello Gemini!:
The department of Computing and Information Technology is in the process of transitioning from old file and print services to new ones. Pandora, the server you are currently using, is four years old, and has been experiencing some stability issues (you've probably noticed). CIT has new servers onto which everyone will be moving for file and print services. CIT needs to do a few things to accomplish this transition, including:
- make sure all Windows 98, 2000, and XP systems have the most recent version of the Novell Client software installed (available from http://www.uvm.edu/software/)
- migrate your shared printers from old-style print queues to Novell Distributed Print Services
*Common LAN Services are better known as: Pandora, Calypso.
**Enhanced LAN Services are better known as: Gemini.
