BCOR 011: Exploring Biology
Will use hierarchy of cells to organisms as the underlying theme for examining the complexity of life. We will begin with a discussion of the scientific approach, providing students the tools for critical thinking and hypothesis testing. From that platform, we will explore the origins of life through the development of organic complexity. Credit not given for both BCOR 11 and BIOL 1. [Credits: 4]
BCOR 012: Exploring Biology
Exploring the complexity of life through
an evolutionary perspective. We begin by examining the patterns of
inheritance and the role of natural selection in evolutionary
processes, leading into exploring the evolution of biodiversity.
Interactions of organisms with each other and with the abiotic
environment form the basis for understanding the evolution of animal
and plant form and function. Credit not given for both BCOR
12 and BIOL 2. [Credits: 4]

BCOR 101: Genetics
Study of the basis of inheritance, covering topics from classical genetics to modern molecular studies. Analysis of genetic data emphasized. [Credits: 3]
BCOR 102: Ecology and Evolution
Ecosystem and community structure; population growth; species interactions and niche dynamics; population and chromosomal genetics; speciation in fossil records; ecology of animal behavior; applied ecology. [Credits: 4]
BCOR 103: Molecular & Cell Biology
Molecules, structures, and physiology of cell membranes; energy
transformations; nuclear and cytoplasmic events; extracellular matrix;
cell signaling; and cell types and fates. [Credits: 4]
