Introduction

Milton wants to bring new animals to Vermont.  These animals are from Australia, which is on the other side of the world!

The animals that Milton wants to bring to Vermont are called marsupials (mar-soup-ee-alls).

Marsupials are animals that have pouches where their babies live after they are born.

You are going to learn about five different marsupials from Australia.  The koala bear, kangaroo, tasmanian (taz-main-ian) pademelon (paid-melon), numbat and the pygmy (pig-me) possum.

We need to learn about these animals to make sure they can live in Vermont before we bring them here.
