The
Tricky Weather in Our World
|
Forecasting
Meteorology: There are many
different
factors that contribute to the weather that
we experience on our planet. The different weather that we see is the
result of the networking of the sun, air, and cycles within our
atmosphere. Imagine the weather
as
being produced from a web of different things; it is the profession of
meteorology that studies the weather. Meteorologists are the people
that
predict what weather we will experience on earth. Meteorologists use
special instruments to help them determine the weather. They also
know what parts of our atmosphere to study in order to forecast weather
to the public. They use
different maps to show people the temperatures, winds, fronts, and
storms. Here are a few examples of different maps meteorologists use to
forcast the weather:

Problem at the
Local News Station: The
local weatherman is vacationing and the local news station couldn't
find a
substitute meteorologist. The news station still needs to deliver the
weather
report daily. The staff at the news station needs your help while they
learn how to provide weather on the news. The staff at the news station
needs someone to help them learn what they need to take into
consideration as they try to
predict the weather. They have the right tools to study the weather but
they don't know what to study with the tools. The staff at the news
station has no idea hot to start thinking about forecasting the
weather. They are starting to worry that the community won't know the
weather. Things are getting a little crazy at the local news station
trying to fill in for the vacationing weatherman.

The Community
Needs Your Help!
It is up
to you
to help the news staff provide a daily weather report while the
weatherman is on vacation. To help the people at the news station you
should tell them the factors in our environment that control the
weather
that we experience everyday. |
Things
to think about as you begin this journey...
How does the sun start our
weather systems?
How
does air pressure affect the wind?
What do clouds and water do in
the weather system?
How do storms begin?
