How can we change garbage into gardening soil? Some garbage, especially food scraps, can be used to make soil when we put it into a special bin called a compost bin. This bin breaks down the old food scraps to make new soil that we can use in our garden to help grow new food like tomatoes and pumpkins. It is similar to the process mother nature uses to break down dead leaves and plants in the forest to feed the new plants that grow in the forest.
