How Animals Survive the Winter (Grades K-2 with support)

Do Bears Wear Boots?

When the weather starts to get cold, we start to wear more clothes.  We stop wearing shorts and t-shirts outside, and start wearing hats and mittens, warm coats and boots.  We stay in our warm houses when the snow and wind are blowing.

What do animals do to stay warm during the winter?  I have never seen a bear wearing boots, and where do all the turtles go?  I need your help!  What can I teach the class about animals in the winter?

THE CHALLENGE: Find out how THREE animals survive the winter.  Draw pictures showing the animals in winter, or make a book about the animals to show what you have discovered.  You will help me teach the class about what animals do in the winter by sharing your creation and discoveries during Morning Meeting.
