Into The Deep
Studying Habitats
Grade 3
WebQuest By: Devon Simpson
The Challenge:
Your
submarine has just crashed to the ocean floor.
While down there, you and the other marine biologists thought you would
explore.
As a
group, you decide to use your time to discover information about the marine
habitat. As an assigned group of two or
three marine biologists, you will choose one animal from the ocean to research.
- Each person in the group needs a different
job, either researcher (student
in charge of researching and finding information on the internet), recorder (student will record
information and interesting facts into science journal and/or Task Sheet),
and if there are three people a facilitator
(student will be the leader of the group, may ask teacher questions,
gather materials).
-
- As a group, you first must fill out an
information sheet about your animal.
Click
here to print it.
-
- Choose an animal to research from the
ocean. Some examples of animals
that you can choose are:
-
Crabs, Sharks, Turtles,
Whales …

- Record the name of the animal that you are
going to be recording onto your information sheet.
-
- Using the resources below answer as many of
the questions on your information sheet as you can. This is a great chance to learn some
interesting facts about your chosen animal.
-
- Now it is time to do something fun with this
information you have found. Create
a Hyper Studio presentation on the information you discovered. This presentation must include a title
page, a picture, and as many of the facts from the information sheet as
you can. Once you have the pages we
will help you put them together into a show. Try to make this as cool looking as you
can so we can share them with the other marine biologists.
