Introduction:

Everybody has five senses, which are very important to us.  Our five senses are sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.  Our eyes help us see things like pictures and our friends.  Our ears help us to hear things like music.  Our nose helps us smell things like skunks.  Our lips and tongues help us taste things like cake.  And our hands help us feel the soft fur of a puppy or a kitten.

Challenge:

Mrs. Petunia needs your help!!!  She is very forgetful and loses everything.  While she was traveling on her skateboard, Mrs. Petunia lost all of her senses.  Your job is to help Mrs. Petunia find her 5 senses.  Using the questions and websites below, you will explore the Internet and write down or draw what you find.  After you help collect all of Mrs. Petunia’s senses, you will complete the picture of her with all of her five senses; and don’t forget her skateboard!!

Journey:

Mrs. Petunia lost her sense of sight in Pennsylvania.  Help her by finding your favorite color at the Crayola factory. Draw a crayon and write the number and name of your favorite color on it.

Mrs. Petunia lost her sense of hearing in Australia.  Click on the cow noise to help her get her hearing back.  Then, draw a picture of your own cow mooing.

Mrs. Petunia’s sense of smell was lost in Hawaii.  Draw two flowers from Hawaii that look like they might smell nice.

While Mrs. Petunia was in Illinois visiting the Nabisco factory, she lost her sense of taste.  Her favorite cookies are Oreos.  Draw a picture of your favorite cookie.

Mrs. Petunia was so relaxed after spending time on the beaches in Jamaica that she forgot her sense of touch right there on the sand.  Draw a picture of yourself at the ocean.

~After you have helped Mrs. Petunia collect her senses, draw her eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and hands on her in the correct places.  Don’t forget to draw her skateboard and remind her to always keep her senses with her so that she can enjoy the world!
