Welcome Future Compost Educators!

Welcome Fellow Compost Creators!

Composting is a wonderful way in which a community can work together to reduce the amount of garbage we throw away each day. The difference between composting and recycling is that compost allows us to help grow new fruits, vegetables, and plants in a quicker and healthier way! It is very important for each person in our community to be able to compost in order for us to work together to get the job done!

The Challenge: Your job is to teach other people in our community how to compost! You will do this by going to the following websites and searching for information on composting in order to fill in the composting brochure we will create for our friends and family!

Answer the following questions to help create our composting brochure!

1.     Find at least four things that you would put in your compost pile and four things that you wouldn’t put in your compost pile. You can include more if you want!

2.     What types of materials can be used to make a compost bin?

3.     Name two types of compost critters that you might find in a compost pile. You can include more if you want!

4.     What are the four main ingredients in a compost recipe?

Use the following websites for finding the answers for our information brochures…

You should be able to find most of the information in the first eleven slides on this page, but you can use other sites if you’d like!

Florida’s Online Composting Center
