Archibald Street extends from its intersection
with Walnut and Spring Street, capped by the H. O. Wheeler School, established in
1904-1905, east toward North Prospect Street. It is part of what is now called the
Old North End in Burlington. In 1890, the street was just beginning to become built
up, and there were still large plots of land open to development. However, very
little of this 1890s development survives today.
In the 1890s the population of this area of Burlington was mainly immigrant workers,
with a large Jewish population. Moving east toward North Prospect street, a synagogue
which is now on the National Register of Historic Places marks the trends in this
area.
No historical photographs have been found of this area.
