What still stands from between 1869 and 1877 in Burlington, Vermont?

15/17 Cedar Street

This shingled style home has had many renovations done to it since the late 1800s.  It is hard to imagine the way these homes originally looked, since now 15 and 17 Cedar Street is attached.  There is very little authentic detailing still visible from the exterior façade.

In 1901, Henry Bachard, who was a laborer within Burlington, occupied one of these homes.  Before he moved to Cedar Street, he lived at 36 Cedar Street. [4]   In 1906, John Coon lived at 15 Cedar Street and worked as a laborer.  Victor Bachard worked at 17 Cedar Street, and also worked as a laborer. [5]   In 1886, there was a family living at 15 Cedar.  Mary McDonald worked at Queen City Laundry, Lizzie McDonald worked as a seamstress, and George and Henry McDonald lived at 15 Cedar. [6]
