North Street crosses North Champlain Street in the Old North End of Burlington.  North Street has been a commercial center for the area for a long period of time.  The growth of the 1870s brought more customers to the existing businesses along this corridor and created opportunities for new businesses.

            North Street is a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Few structures contributing to this district stand along this block reaching from Park Street to North Champlain Street.  Both of the structures that were constructed during this period from 1869 to 1877 are listed, and one was part of the Vermont Historic Sites and Structures Survey.
