Back to North Champlain Street

221/223 North Champlain Street

This house is a two-story, offset front entrance, gable front two bays wide that faces east.  The structure was originally made up of only the main block of the current structure.  The front porch has been enclosed and shed roofed additions have been built on the west and south facades.

According to the city directories, William Pope, previously of Colchester Avenue, inhabited the house [1] from 1875 until after 1885.  The house seemed to be vacant between 1890 until nearly 1907 [2] .  P. H. Doyle had owned the property [3] , but there was no mention of this individual in the city directories.  After 1907 the house has been occupied by a number of different individuals and families, but not for extended periods of time.
