455 South Union Street

It is difficult to say when the home was modified, because this area of town does not appear on any Sanborn Maps prior to the 1920's. Maps previous to those are scant and often have little detail. However, it is apparent that the north end of this house is a newer addition. This home was occupied by J. Dolan in 1869. The building is thought to date from 1860.(1) James Dolan is listed in the City Directories as a laborer. Several members of the Dolan family occupied the house until the 1930's. From the 1880's until the 1920's, Charles Dolan lived in the house. Charles and his brother owned Dolan Brothers Grocery on College Street.(2)
