UHN Hall Council Prepares for a New Year

by Harrison Keyes '13

Hall Councils at the University of Vermont are the students' way of being involved in their own residence hall. Each year, students run for leadership positions in their halls, and, if elected, are given the opportunity to plan and run programming for the residence hall. In the past years, Hall Council has hosted movie nights, open mic performances, an enviro-jam, spirit week, many other socials and awareness events, and took part in hosting Athletic Campus' end of the year bash, Athletapalooza. The University Heights Hall council has also collaborated with the Honors College peer mentor program to put on an ice skating trip to Leddy Park Arena, and a trip to Shelburne Farms.

This year's executive board consists of a President, Harrison Keyes '13; three vice presidents, Antonia David '14, Indigo James '14, and Andrew McCue '14; and two Inter-Residence Association representatives, Alex James '14 and Alana Caffrey '13. The University Heights North Hall Council has had a great start to the year so far. All E-board members attended training run by the Inter-Residence Association (IRA) on Saturday September 18th, and hosted the first of many events at this past Tuesday's pizza and game night.

Looking towards the rest of the year, Hall council is planning many more social events, the return of the open mic night, more awareness and community service programming, and a yearlong program involving the whole complex. Hall council is always open to new members and ideas for the complex, so we encourage any residents interested in shaping their community to join us Tuesday nights at 8 pm in the UHN lobby.
