National Scholarships for Students in Healthcare Fields

Because of their academic focus, not all national scholarships can be applied for graduate study in clinical disciplines (this includes medical school, dental school, nursing school, or graduate study in clinical psychology). That said, if you are pre-med or a pre-health student there are still a plethora of opportunities to choose from. The scholarships listed below have been broken down based on if they can be applied to undergraduate or graduate study.

A quick note on financing for medical school: To be perfectly honest, most students graduate from medical schol with substantial debt, and many people take several years to pay off their loans. Medical schools expect to advise students about this, and campus interview days always include a session in financing medical education. The AAMC also has some useful information on how financing medical school works. Remember: It looks daunting from this end, but it does end up working out. In addition, if you are considering opportunities to pursue research or another graduate degree before pursuing medical school, strongly consider looking into the graduate fellowships in the United Kingdom as well as elsewhere around the world. These graduate fellowships are a priceless intellectual opportunity, and they enable you to go into medical school with significant distinction.
