His son, George Farrington, Jr. helped his father run the farm. In addition, he took a job in the textile mills in nearby Winooski. According to his son James, after the great flood of 1927, George Farrington, Jr. worked only at the family farm. By this time the dairy herd had been sold and the land was used for vegetable gardens.

He also started a nursery in the late 1920s,5 building two large greenhouses and eventually a florist shop next door to the farmhouse. By the early 1920s the Farringtons also had occasional campers who used the nearby farm fields for campsites during the summer months. 6
