of roles, relations, and molar activities.
•  describing what makes a developmentally facilitating mesosystem.
•  explaining accurately the importance and desirable qualities
of settings and links.
•  offering compelling examples to illustrate their rules in action.

Students have difficulty:
•  incorporating the exosystem into their rules.
•  incorporating the macrosystem into their rules.
•  supporting their rules with evidence from Bronfenbrenner's model. Many
students described their rules in develecological language but did not
explain WHY develecological principles were developmentally
facilitating.
