About the Text

The text is drawn from an electronic text currently to be found at gopher://gopher.vt.edu:10010/02/128/1. Though housed at the Virginia Tech gopher, this document, or the person who did the electronic version, is not identified. However, it appears to be a copy of the 1717 edition of the Metamorphoses. The University of Vermont owns several editions of this work, the oldest being:

Until such time as a more reliable electronic edition is available, this will serve to introduce and familiarise the reader with the poem that accompanies the images. (Hope Greenberg, 5/22/95).
