Gender Violence Response Team

The Gender Violence Response Team develops and implements initiatives that advocate for a campus culture that has
zero tolerance for perpetration of gender violence. We are
committed to proactive outreach and education as well as enhancing available resources and services to all survivors of
gender based violence, sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking
. The students, staff, faculty and Burlington community members that
comprise the Gender Violence Response Team, acknowledge, honor, and
educate around the intersectionality of identities that are present in
our campus community.
Please celebrate our recent successes:
- Gender Violence Survivor's Resource Guide
- "Speak On It!" sponsored poets and writers Myra Mathis-Flynn,
Laura "JJ" Reyna, Eli Clare, and others to read and speak about
being queer and our experiences of domestic violence. An event for
National Coming Out Week and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
- "Be A Man!" co-sponsored Don McPherson, (former NFL Quarterback) to speak about protecting the rights of all women. Co-sponsors included UVM's Department of Athletics, Greek Life, and the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA).
- Developed a Sexual Assault Policy
Our current initiatives include:
- "Dismantling Rape Culture" forum for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, April 2006
- Develop a Campus Relationship Violence Policy
- Develop a Campus Stalking Policy
- Continual promotion and sponsorship of educational offerings on campus
