Grads Give Back Program

GSS organizes a volunteer program called Grads Give Back as part of our efforts to enhance our bond with the local community. This past spring graduate students participated in the Penguin Plunge for the Vermont Special Olympics, Magic Hat Mardi Gras Parade for the Vermont Food Bank, and Habitat Restore for Habitat for Humanity

Vermont Foodbank

The Gleaning Program organizes volunteers to gather excess produce from local farms to reduce waste, educate the public and help feed the community.

Intervale

The mission of Intervale is to strengthen community food systems by helping new farms, developing farm business and agricultural markets, food systems research and consulting, and most importantly by celebrating food and farmers. Volunteers can glean food from local farms, distribute vegetables, or improve Lake Champlain water quality by tending to the local tree stock.
Summervale occurs every Thursday from July 7- August 25 this year from 5:30-8:00 pm providing live music, local food, and activities.


The Chill Foundation, Burton Snowboards

Founded in 1997, The Chill Foundation provides opportunities for underserved youth (ages 10-18) to build self-esteem through board sports. Volunteers can assist with either program or fundraising efforts.


All Breed Rescue, Vermont

A non-profit organization, All Breed Rescue saves adoptable dogs from kill shelters and places them in loving homes throughout the New England area. Volunteer opportunities include walking and socializing dogs, grooming and cleaning, and assisting adoption counselors. More Info


Visiting Nurses Association of the Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties

VNA cares for individuals and families in the area. There are multiple ways to volunteer with children, adults, or families. Programs include Adult Day (cooking, social activities and games) and Family Room (promoting child play and language development). More Info
