Student Opportunities

Study Abroad Opportunities Students in St. Petersburg, Russia Two University of Vermont Russian students in Fall 2009 at St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow. Many of our Russian majors and minors study for a semester or a full year at Russian universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, and Irkutsk.

Study Abroad: A major benefit of studying German or Russian, or other foreign languages, is the opportunity of studying for a year or a semester in another country and culture. Many of our German students study abroad in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, and our Russian students study in Russia. In the right-hand box is a photo of two of our students in Moscow.

German House Program: An on-campus residential program at the Global Village Residential Learning Communities where UVM students can share and expand their interest in German. Read more.

Russian House Program: An on-campus residential program at the Global Village Residential Learning Communities where UVM students can share and expand their interest in Russian, and earn one credit while doing so. Read more.

Research Opportunities: Research opportunities for students of German or Russian at UVM include publication possibilities for papers developed in their courses, research project possibilities with professors, and research funding possibilities through the APLE [Academic Programs for Learning and Engagement] in the College of Arts and Sciences.
