Lung Cancer and the Effects of Smoking



Due to the effects of smoking and the power the cigarette industry, there is no way around getting ride of the smoke. Even though it would be better for the world as a whole, there is no way around smoking. In the U.S. alone, over 48 million adults smoke. Due to the power of the addiction, people would buy cigarettes no matter the cost. This is a great fault of humans because 80% of all reported cases of Lung Cancer could be prevented if the number one cause, smoking, were eliminated.

The four main causes of Lung Cancer
-Smoking cigarettes (90% of Lung Cancer is linked to smoking)
-Smoking marijuana cigarettes
-Recurring inflammation, which causes scars in lungs increasing the chance of lung cancer.
-Inhalation of Asbestos

Lung Cancer is the leading cause of death in the world.

Cigarette smoke contains tar, made up of over 4000 chemicals, including 43 known to cause cancer.

According to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, in 1996, over 487 billion cigarettes went up in smoke.
