A Message from R. M. Cangey

The following is a message from R. M. Cangey, an Actor/Stuntman on the show, and a friend of Robert Conrad. If you would like to know more about him and his Wild Wild West adventures, he has a book out called Inside The Wild Wild West. You ca n also go to his Web site HERE.

As Robert Conrad's friend, former associate and confidante who worked with him for eight years, I believe I still know Bob's feelings on many issues. It was me, Richard M. Cangey, and nobody else who made the statement that "There is a better chance of snow on the 4th of July in downtown Honalulu than there is of Robert Conrad having any part of the movie version, The Wild Wild West, as it is presently planned."
As the mail traveling over the Internet indicates by 90% or more, the fans of The Wild Wild West disapprove of Will Smith portraying James West in the movie; and Will Smith being a black man has nothing to do with it. Will Smith is good at what he does. Will Smith as James West is simply bad casting.
To those who say "An actor is an actor and if he is qualified to play the part, color should not enter into it," is pure bullshit. Perhaps Jon Peters has personal reasons for his decision in the casting.
To those, like Jon, who must have their head up their ass, please allow me to suggest the talented and handsome Denzel Washington to play the life of John F. Kennedy and perhaps myself as Martin Luther King, Jr.
Most sincerely,
Cangey
