Hebrew 1 - Lesson 7

Lesson 7 introduces the rule of Hebrew Adjectives and additional vocab.

AdjectivesHebrew adjectives follow three rules.
  • 1). The Adjective follows the noun it describes.
  • 2). Each adjective has four forms (masculine/feminine in singular and plural). The Adjective has to ......agree with the noun it characterizes in gender and number.
  • 3). If a noun is definite and gets a "Ha" (or a "Ba") the adjective has to get a "Ha" too.

Vocabulary: Lessons 7's vocabulary pertains to terms of apartment rental. Many of the terms describe the apartment or the rooms. Also it is relevant to people who consider living off campus whether it is here in Burlington, or in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv or many other places.
Housing terminology in Hebrew includes a number of ways to refer to the bathroom.
    "ShiRutim" and "MikLaChat"
    are the most prominent.
"MikLaChat" also means shower. "Shirutim" ends with "Yod", "Mem" despite the fact that it is a noun of a singular form. An adjective to characterize "Shirutim" should have a "Yod","Mem" ending also, so it agrees in sound with "Shirutim".
"Shirutim Gdolim" a big bath room.
    "Shirutim NeKiYim" a clean bathroom.
