David V. Picker

Film and Television Guest Speaker

David Picker and Woody Allen

Former head of United Artists, Paramount, and Columbia, David Picker came to UVM to speak with students in November 2014.  Picker produced films such as "Lenny" (1974), "The Jerk" (1979), and "The Crucible" (1996), in addition to shepherding into existence the James Bond series and working with great directors such as Woody Allen and Bob Fosse.

In Picker's presentation, he discussed the difficulty and the satisfaction of running a Hollywood studio and explained his own career trajectory.  Picker gave students information about how studios and film production works behind the scenes, while evincing his continuing love for cinematic narrative.

This was Picker's second visit to UVM, following up on a presentation in 2010.
