Minutes Hey everyone here are the minutes from our First free to be meeting on Monday 8th. First we had a little officer introductions: Laura Cui: President Senior punchtank@gmail.com Dana Gulley: Vice President Junior dgulley@uvm.edu Kaytee Duskin: Librarian Senior kduskin@uvm.edu Emma Kennedy: Treasurer Senior eekenned@uvm.edu Sarah Mangan: Outreach Coordinator Junior smangan@uvm.edu Emma Harlowe Secretary Sophomore eharlowe@uvm.edu Important People: John Mejia: Coordinator for LGBTQA services jmejia@uvm.edu -Events that go along with LGBTQA services are COOKIES COCOA AND QUEERS which is Wednesdays from 4-5 in the Allen house. It is a fun informal setting where you hang out and eat cookies -Also there is a sign up for a mass email where it lists everything that you can sign up for. -LGBTQA services plans many events with F2B. New Advisor: Liz Fenton Is a our new advisor this year and is an English professor. Office is in Old mill and the office hours are Thursday, her door is open and would love visitors. Elizabeth.Fenton@uvm.edu Outgoing Advisor: Greg Ramos -Stepping down from being an advisor but highly recommends Liz Fenton. He is stepping down because of his involvement in theatre this year, but is proud of all the work we did last year. We then played some fun name games to get to know eachother. FIRST EVENT! Condoms and cupcakes September 22nd in Billings North Lounge 8pm. The sign up sheet for the making of the fabulous cupcakes will be handed out at next weeks meeting. We would be making the cupcakes the night before on the 21st. ACTIVITIES FAIR Tomorrow September 10th in the Davis center circle from 10-2. Stop by and say hello, and feel free to help table. ANNOUNCEMENTS Connor Mcfadden introduced himself as a board member of Outright Vermont a non profit organization that helps queer youth 22 and younger. Outright provides direct services, and social opportunities, UVM students are welcome. If you have any questions you can reach him at. cmcfadde@uvm.edu A fundraiser coming up for outright is the fire truck pull this Saturday the 13th from 12-2. A group of 12 people pull a fire truck 30 ft across Church street. Toby MacNutt is in charge of the UVM team and there are still a couple of openings. Bisexual Pansexual and Ally group is starting up soon. It is a fun relaxed group where we hang out and talk about anything from social issues to youtube videos. But we would like to know when people are free to have this meeting. The Translated Identity conference is UVM?s largest free nonprofit student run conference, and it explores gender identities, expressions, and related topics. The event takes place on November 8th and volunteers are needed soon if anyone is interested please email Davin at davin.sokup@uvm.edu -Addison Kasmarek is creating a diversity task force for anyone in the Rubenstein school. What this group is going to try and accomplish in supposed to be the voice of the minority groups in Rubenstein. The first meeting will be Sept. 11 at 6:30 in Aiken 105, there will be free pizza ALSO Addison is also the treasurer for the forestry club, a woodsman team where you do various things such as climbing polls, chopping wood and lots of other fun stuff. Meets this Thursday sept 11 at 8. For any questions contact Joe Tinkham at joseph.tinkham@uvm.edu Also there is a speaker coming called Emma Perez. She is a chicana lesbian who has a book coming out next year. She is coming Thursday sept 18th 5pm at Waterman at memorial lounge. Also we have two officer positions open and are looking for nominees/people who are interested. Publicity Coordinator: The Publicity Coordinator is in charge of advertising and publicity for Free2Be events. This is not just making posters. It includes delegating people to help advertise by making/hanging posters, tabling, etc. Be creative with how you let people know about us! First-Year Assistant: The First-Year Assistant helps the other officers with various tasks and focuses on member retention.
