Chinese Brush Painting
Art class for adults and teens
Saturdays, 10/16 and 10/23, 10 am - 3 pm

Fee: Fleming Museum members $90;
General $100 (includes all materials)

This class is a wonderful opportunity to explore Chinese art and gain an appreciation and understanding of the aesthetics of Chinese painting. Students will learn the four gentlemen series, which represents the four seasons of the year -- plum blossom, mountain orchid, bamboo, and chrysanthemum -- and gain the basic skills to facilitate further practice on their own. This course is exploratory and requires no background in art.

Art classes at the Fleming Museum provide exciting opportunities for children to explore the visual arts. UVM art education students, supervised by their instructor, Tom Brennan, teach the classes for each age group. Whether your child loves art or is just curious to try something new, these classes offer individualized attention and the chance to experiment with a variety of mediums, such as painting, sculpture, and collage.

The University of Vermont's Robert Hull Fleming Museum houses Vermont's most comprehensive collection of art and anthropological artifacts. Metered parking is available in the Fleming Museum Visitor Lot between the Museum and Fletcher Allen Health Care. Free parking is available Saturday and Sunday in the University lot on the West side of the Museum. The Fleming Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums.
