THE FLEMING MUSEUM PRESENTS
FLEMING MUSEUM AND ECHO COLLABORATE THIS SUMMER WITH "LENS ON THE LANDSCAPE"
July and August 2005
Fleming Museum and ECHO at the Leahy Center

BURLINGTON, VT - This summer the Fleming Museum and ECHO at the Leahy Center come together for a unique collaboration of art and science education. During July and August, both institutions put a Lens on the Landscape by presenting exhibitions that explore how contemporary scientists and artists perceive and represent the landscape. Visitors who choose to visit both exhibitions will have the opportunity to receive a special admission price.

According to Evelyn Hankins, Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at the Fleming Museum, "The Fleming Museum is thrilled to be collaborating with ECHO, particularly on a project whose subject is so close to the heart of Vermonters. Lens on the Landscape is a wonderful opportunity for visitors to engage the landscape from both artistic and scientific perspectives."

In the ECHO exhibition, Eyes on Earth, visitors will explore how satellites view Earth and learn about the technology behind state-of-the-art satellite photography. The Fleming Museum's exhibition, New Turf, offers visitors a fresh view of the American urban, rural, and suburban landscapes through the eyes of 15 contemporary artists from Vermont and across the nation.
