FLEMING MUSEUM OF ART

Offering world-class art in the heart of Burlington since 1931, the Fleming Museum of Art is a vital part of the University of Vermont and its School of the Arts. Featuring rotating exhibitions, community events and programs, and over 24,000 art and cultural heritage objects within its collections, the Fleming is a meeting place for inspired learning, critical thinking, and fostering understanding of our shared human experiences.

The Museum is closed for UVM's Summer Recess and will reopen to the public on September 3, 2024. During this time we will be undergoing a construction project in the lobby, deinstalling our current rotating exhibitions, installing for Fall ‘24, circulating select works in and out of our Collections Gallery, and much more. Fleming Reimagined: An Ongoing Practice

Fleming Reimagined is a values-based framework we use to cultivate an inclusive environment and interrogate traditional museum practices. By building trust, maintaining transparency, and becoming a responsive space, Fleming Reimagined is our guide for creating a museum in which everyone feels welcome and sees themselves reflected.

At the Fleming, we aim to use art in all forms to expand our understanding of our shared human experience. Everything we do—from selecting art and artists for acquisition and display, to public programming and campus engagement, to community building—requires our attention to work and a commitment to continually assess and communicate it along the way. We look forward to sharing more about the evolution of Fleming Reimagined with you soon.
