               <salute>Dear Harry:</salute>
            </opener>

            <p n="Q">Some time while I was away this
summer you sent us some programs as suggestions for our work this year on Vermont. They
were on local government, Religious Forces, Schools, and three on Care of the Handicapped.
Now, like Oliver Twist, I am coming back for more. They want me to prepare a program on
Eugenics, and I am wondering if you can help me, as I have practically no material – Darwin's
"What is Eugenics" and a few old things. The material you sent on the Handicapped Children is
being kept for a special program. The two will overlap somewhat, I suppose, but that cannot be
helped.</p>

            <p n="Q">I had thought that we might make some use of Mrs. Lamson's "Study of Agricultural
Populations" which I have, but possibly not much. You see, I am rather at sea myself. Give me a
program to prepare on some phase of International Relations and I can do it without so much fuss
and bothering others. I wish we could have a speaker, but we have not a cent for that in this
year's budget, so it is out of the question.</p>

            <p n="Q">You asked me in the letter you wrote if I am permanently located at home now. Yes, I have
not taught for four years, not from choice, but from necessity. Richford has a rather small, "one‐horse" library of about 3200 books which I am trying to make more useful.</p>
