</opener>

I am writing to ask for your help in trying to locate a
successor for Miss Conklin. She has decided to discontinue her work
with us in August in order to study at the University of Pennsylvania.

I think that the time has come when we should have a trained
mental tester and of course that will make it necessary for us to pay
out more money for salary. It seems to me that we have gone about
as far as we are justified in going with the sort of general pedigree
study that has occupied our attention hitherto. Our results are being
examined critically by institutions and organizations that want
something more scientifically accurate than our present data. I think
we should find a man or woman who has had a good deal of training
and that we should demand more rather than less than the minimum
amount of training and experience that the job seems to require.

Will you be good enough to think this over and let me know
if you have anyone in mind who might be interested in this sort of
research work? Of course we should continue the pedigree study
rather than specializing on mental testing. Our information will,
however, be much more exact and therefore valuable if the mental
rating of the individuals can be carefully and accurately ascertained.

Thanking you in advance for any suggestions that you may
be able to offer, I remain,

            <closer>
