Dr. Declan McCabe - Professor of Biology at Saint Michael's College - Biographical Sketch

Declan McCabe is a community ecologist specializing on freshwater macroinvertebrates. Research topics he has addressed include null model analysis of co-occurrence patterns, interactions between zebra mussels and the benthic fauna of Lake Champlain, adult zebra mussel movement, effects of caddisfly aggregations on stream macroinvertebrate communities, impacts of land use on communities in Mallets Bay, and the use of standardized effect sizes as a supplement to inferential statistics. His lab group has focused on biomonitoring and experimental manipulations in Vermont streams as part of the Vermont EPSCoR Streams Project since 2008. One of the RACC water quality labs is currently being hosted in his lab and storm-associated sampling in watersheds is being coordinated from there. Declan is an associate professor of biology at Saint Michael's College where he has worked since 2001.
