DEPSCoR Funding for FY2010

The Senate and House Appropriations Committees have recently approved Department of Defense bills that include no funding for DEPSCoR in FY2010. As a result a DEPSCoR solicitation is not expected next year.
 
The Senate Authorization bill did include important language recognizing the program's current contribution to the Department of Defense research community and recommended $8m for the program, but the Appropriations Committee did not follow the funding recommendation.
 
The recent DEPSCoR assessment completed by the Institute for Defense Analyses was very encouraging and provides support for continuing a DEPSCoR program. The Coalition continues to work with Congressional offices to identify a DEPSCoR program that will ultimately be supported by both the Congress and the Administration.
