Getting to Burlington

  • From Montreal: 100 miles
  • From Boston: 215 miles
  • From New York City: 290 miles
  • From Albany, New York: 145 miles

Burlington International Airport is located three to four miles from campus. Major airlines include United, Continental, USAirways, JetBlue, American, Delta and Northwest. Burlington is served by Vermont Transit Bus Lines. Amtrak travels to Essex Junction, just 15 minutes from campus.

Directions to UVM

From I-89 North or South: Take Exit 14W. Proceed 1 mile west on Route 2 (Williston Road/Main Street) to campus.

From north or south on Route 7: Enter Burlington from either direction. Turn onto Main Street (Route 2 East). Go uphill one light to South Prospect Street.

From the Adirondack Northway (I-87): Take Exit 20. Proceed north on Route 9 to Route 149, headed to Fort Ann, New York. In Fort Ann, take Route 4 North to Route 22A in Vermont. Follow Route 22A through Vergennes, then follow Route 7 North into Burlington. Turn right onto Main Street (Route 2 East). Go uphill one light to South Prospect Street.

From Burlington International Airport: From airport grounds, turn left onto Airport Drive. At next stoplight, turn right onto Williston Road/Route 2 West. Drive 4-5 miles west to UVM campus, at top of hill. (Williston Road becomes Main Street.)


Directions to Middlebury College

From New York: I-87 (Northway) North to Exit 20. Go East on Rt. 149 (Glens Falls area) to Rt. 4 (Whitehall, NY) to Vermont. At Exit 4 (Castleton, VT) take Rt. 30 North to Middlebury.

From Connecticut: I-91 North to Springfield/Ludlow VT Exit. Then take Rt. 103 to Rt. 7 (Rutland) and go North on Rt. 7 to Middlebury.

From Maine: I-95 South to Exeter, NH. Take Rt. 101 West to Concord, NH. Take I-93 North to I-89 North into Vermont. At Queechee, VT (Exit 1) take Rt. 4 West to Rt. 7 (Rutland). Then North on Rt. 7 to Middlebury. (or) Stay on I-89 North to Bethel, VT (Exit 3). Take Rt. 107 West to 100 North to 125 West (over Middlebury Mountain) to Middlebury.

From Eastern Massachusetts: I-93 North to I-89 North into Vermont. Take Exit 1 (Queechee) to Rt. 4 West to Rte. 7 North to Middlebury. (or) Stay on I-89 North to Bethel, VT (Exit 3). Take Rt. 107 West to 100 North to 125 West (over Middlebury Mt.) to Middlebury.

From Central Massachusetts: I-91 North to Springfield/Ludlow, VT Exit. Take Rt. 103 to Rt. 7 North (Rutland) then North on Rt. 7 to Middlebury.

From Western Massachusetts: At Pittsfield, MA take Rt. 7 North to Middlebury.

From Burlington International Airport: Coming out of the airport turn left on Airport Road. At the stop light, cross the intersection onto Kennedy Drive. At the second light enter Route 189, West to Route 7; at intersection of Route 7 turn left and continue south to Middlebury (30 miles). At the large white Congregational Church turn right, continue through town bearing right onto Route 125; Go past St. Mary's Church and the College is on the left and right.
