Eric Lindstrom received his BA from Wisconsin (2000) and his Ph.D. from Yale (2006). He is completing a manuscript called "Poetic Fiat: Demystification and Enchantment in Romanticism." The project advances a double poetics of fiat--expressed both in "let there be" and "let be" moments--to be found in romantic poetry, philosophy, and in other areas of public life such as politics and money.

Articles related to this project have appeared in the journals Studies in Romanticism and Literary Imagination, among other places. Two new research interests involve Jane Austen and the philosopher Stanley Cavell (at times together).
