Is our water safe?
There are risks inherent in any activity, and swimming is no exception. The health risks of swimming at one of Vermonts monitored beaches is relatively small; as long as the beach is open, six or fewer swimmers per 1,000 will get sick. And sickness for most people means cramps and/or diarrhea. In contrast, the chance of being injured in a car accident is 17 per 1,000 licensed drivers, and the consequences can be much more drastic.
