Small Fire in Williams Hall on UVM Campus Quickly Extinguished

Some water and smoke damage

A small fire of unknown origin in a custodial closet on the second floor of Williams Hall was reported at 9:30 this morning. The fire was quickly extinguished by the sprinkler system. The building has been evacuated and is closed for the day. No one was injured.

There is water damage on the first floor of the building and smoke and water damage on the second floor. No cost estimate for repair has yet been made.

Lecture and discussion classes held in Williams Hall have been relocated. Studio and lab classes that are held in Williams Hall have been canceled for today. See where classes have been relocated.

Classes in Williams Hall will reopen as regularly scheduled on Monday. Information about when the building will officially reopen will be posted on theĀ Emergency Management website when available.
